8 Bedroom Paint Colors That Are Quietly Replacing Gray in 2026

Key Points

  • Bedroom paint trends are shifting away from cool gray hues in 2026.
  • Warm and earthy tones that are grounding and intimate are becoming increasingly popular.
  • Hues like eucalyptus, khaki, and burnt orange are great options for your bedroom.

Trends are always shifting in the design industry and are a constant source of discussion. There are a few trends, however, that are as highly debated as paint, which is a cheap, easy, and fun way to update your home – and potentially add value to it. There are fierce discussions on what colors are best for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and even smaller areas like reading nooks.

Varying shades of gray have, in recent years, taken the design industry by storm. In 2026, however, trends are shifting away from these cooler hues to embrace warm and earthy tones that are grounding and cozy. These are particularly popular for more intimate areas of the home, like your bedroom. Below, we take a look at some bedroom paint colors that are quietly replacing gray in 2026.

Off-white

White may be seen as a basic paint color, but it’s making a big splash in the design world. Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year is 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a serene off-white that’s meant to promote relaxation and creativity.

It provides a blank canvas on which you can easily decorate and jazz up with your own style.

Blue is a color that’s been done plenty of times before. That’s where new shades like Patina Blue, Etsy’s 2026 Color of the Year, come in. It’s like regular blue’s softer, moodier cousin. Named after the color that aged copper takes on, Patina Blue adds depth to any room, and can also be particularly effective when used for an accent wall.

Khaki

Sophisticated, earthy, and grounded, khaki is a great bedroom paint color. It may be understated but it carries the right amount of depth to help make falling asleep that much easier. It’s no wonder that Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams both chose a beige-khaki hybrid,  Universal Khaki, as their 2026 Color of the Year.

Eucalyptus

This grounded green hue is fresh and cozy, immediately recalling the calming scents of the Eucalyptus plant. If you’re looking to bring a little more nature into your life, Valspar’s 2026 Color of the Year, Warm Eucalyptus, presents an opportunity to transform your bedroom into a restorative space that feels warm and calm.

The very opposite of the cool gray tones the paint world has been accustomed to, a burnt orange is a bold statement color while still being rich and warm. It can create a cozy and intimate feel that’s perfect for a bedroom space. Glidden’s 2026 Color of the Year,  Warm Mahogany, is a great example. It’s a lovely grounded red that can also work well for other rooms around your home.

Plum

Few colors are as understatedly elegant as plum. Graham & Brown chose Divine Damson, a deep plum shade, as their 2026 Color of the Year precisely for this reason. It’s rich and moody, but still timeless in its warmth.

Ivory is a classic paint color, simultaneously luxurious and soft. Dutch Boy Paints’ 2026 Color of the Year is Melodious Ivory, a creamy beige that provides a timeless and warm splash of color to your bedroom.

Champagne

Versatile and warm, champagne is a great color to paint your bedroom if you’re looking for a cozy but sophisticated feel. C2 Paint chose Epernay as its 2026 Color of the Year, an earthy take on the classic champagne color.
