ToggleClassic Cozy Boudoir
What’s more comforting than a family heirloom? In the primary bedroom of this 17th-century French manor, Couturier’s grandmother’s 17th-century Flemish verdure tapestry hangs above the bed, bringing something with heart into the room. If there’s anyone who won’t let the bed bugs bite, it’s dear nanna.
Dapper Bedroom
Leave it to ELLE DECOR A-List designer Augusta Hoffman to create atmosphere in the bedroom. The sleep space in her new Manhattan apartment was given a more masculine edge (at the request of her husband), featuring a tufted leather sofa at the end of the bed that creates the feel of a study.
Bucolic Blue Room
When designer Melissa Lee was recently entrusted to transform this Long Island summer cottage, her brief was indubitably straightforward. “We want a place where we can nap anywhere,” the client told Lee. Lee needed no further instruction when renovating the primary bedroom, which was given an antique painting–inspired pattern (Sycomorus wallpaper in maroon and grayish-blue by Zak+Fox) paired with a happy yellow custom wall-to-wall daybed in fabric from Soane Britain. All proof that a tasteful mixture of patterns doesn’t have to feel busy.

Muddy Red Room
In this theater director’s New York lair, the walls are drenched in a deep, sultry red that simultaneously brings all the drama and feels calming. The bed—covered in a Dualoy shearling and Dedar fabric and topped with Society Limonta bedding—looks so inviting you could sink six feet into it. When the draperies are drawn, “it’s like a warm cocoon,” says designer Stephen Sposito.
Layered Room
Take a load off in the primary suite of this Parisian apartment that is equally stylish and snug. The use of green in interiors has been proven to lower pulse rates and cortisol levels, and this olive green grass-cloth wallpaper, paired with textured antique fixtures, is living proof.
Textiles Galore
Take notes from this non-traditional ski chalet, which features cozy bedding, encased by a brazen splash of red paint by Benjamin Moore. Proof that color therapy might be all you need in life to cure your insomnia.

Monochromatic Green Room
We love a monochromatic moment. And the analogous green scheme in the primary bedroom of this Paris triplex is giving us all the courage to commit to one color. The headboard is covered in surplus suede from an upholsterer that was downsizing. Points for resourcefulness!
Minimal Bedroom
Talk about heavenly serenity. This pared-back home is a masterclass in the less is more mentality, with little more than a clean-lined maple four poster bed and barely-there artwork. Every night will be a brush with the divine in this white sanctuary.
Eclectic Bedroom
The neutral tones of this West Village room’s architecture make for a fitting backdrop for the room’s Holophane sconces, stainless steel lamps, and cobalt blue rug. It’s interior decor that will inspire the sweetest of reveries.

Minimalist Room
Savor the soothingness of slumber in the bedroom of a storied horse stable in Normandy, where the building’s architecture is best observed when it speaks for itself. A jovial Garouste & Bonetti bed and armchair are a cozy addition.
Pattern Play in the Bedroom
In the guest bedroom of this bucolic cottage in Long Island, a gentle patterned wallpaper is the stuff of magic. “The pattern was just so beautiful, and we wanted to feel enveloped in it,” designer Melissa Lee remarks. “It turned out to be everyone’s favorite room.” We especially love the two wrought-iron twin best, topped with contrasting navy blue quilts. It’s basically begging for a napper to plop right down and catch some shut-eye.
Colorful Contrasting Room
This colorful Roman bedroom will make you rethink your sultry dark walls. The leather headboard and vintage nightstands—backed by a bold orange stripe of wall paint—bring grounding amid the color wash. A brilliant bedroom like this can stimulate creativity and the making of many a good dream.

Taupe Bedroom
If you’re looking to give your boudoir a sophisticated edge that’s both calming and refined, lean into the color taupe. This California estate, for example, is a cohesive combination of parquet flooring, earth-toned wallpaper, and plush grayish bedding that will convert the most extroverted of inhabitants to hardcore homebody-ing.
Playful Bedroom
Moments of play needn’t end in adulthood. The whimsical, bedroom of this eclectic Paris apartment features striped bedding, a diminutive nightstand, and colorful artwork that would send anyone off to dreamland with the most capricious of dreams.
Maximalist Bedroom
Leave it to Rebecca Gardner to turn norms on their head when it comes to what a bedroom arrangement entails. The tassel-lined daybed in her one-bedroom apartment—which she describes as a “turn-of-the-last-century brothel with a really fabulous madam”—lives in the living room, where guests are frequently received in one hour, and she’s joyfully slumbering the next. Obviously, there’s more than one way to skin a cat—or, create a bedroom.

Neutral-Hued Bedroom
This graceful domicile, designed by Sarah Tract Interiors’ Sarah Tract, features an elegant monochromatic design scheme with a playful edge—in the form of a squiggly floor-length mirror that is a bold rebellion against clean, modern lines. “This space is a sanctuary that should be always calming and relaxing,” Tract says. “It’s important that it feels comfortable for you and leans into your cozy needs. But that doesn’t mean it has to be stuffy.”
Mirrored Bedroom
The minty monochrome primary bedroom of Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird’s Soho dig has wall-to-wall carpeting and a mirrored wall that creates the illusion of more space and a sense of grandeur. We’re especially obsessed with the velvet and chrome bed that is bedecked in a leopard-print bedspread.
Wood Bedroom Accents
Implement natural material in your sleep space for an added calming effect. The tranquil sleeping quarters of this airy retreat—an elegant fusion of desert modernism and midcentury style—features the coziest of bedrooms, an intentional play on the part of ELLE DECOR A-List designer Nicole Hollis. “Softening these hard surfaces was important to us,” she explains.

Layered Textiles
Botanical prints and soothing shades of pink make for a quiet-yet-joyful space in this Upper East Side penthouse. A large chandelier with shaded lamps, like this one from Visual Comfort, makes for the coziest of environs when the sun has set.
Textural Touches
This nestlike midcentury modern California home boasts a primary bedroom that is sheathed in cushy fabrics and earthy hues. Garrett Hunter hung an antique Tienda X Gallery tapestry behind the bed for added softness. We especially adore the mossy throw blanket that is the ultimate invitation for full-on burrowing.
