As spring struggles to materialize under this last blast of winter, Hot Property is taking a break from bargain house hunting to check out what’s going on in the world of new construction. Here is what’s available at varying price points.

What $700,000+ Will Get You

First up, Infinity Custom Homes is putting the finishing touches on its latest model in Cranberry’s Laurel Pointe community. The luxury home builder has reimagined one of its most popular models, the Cambridge, as a French Tudor-style showplace that includes many of its most sought-after design elements under one roof.

The model has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, a four-car garage and more than 8,351 square feet of living space. Infinity has also reconfigured its Inspirations Design Gallery by expanding its on-site vendor options with space where buyers may assemble their own design boards for paint, cabinets, hardware and flooring, making it one of the most comprehensive one-stop design shops around.

Some of the model’s special features include two office spaces and a primary suite that comes with its own sitting area, plus other spaces for privacy, even in the walk-in closet. Technology also is a big player in new home construction. Infinity uses Neopod for lighting control and Guardian to control the garage and interior climates. There are standard base packages and upgrades available for the buyer who would like to do a whole home.

“Customers are looking to be able to customize their home to fit their tastes and their needs,” says Infinity sales and marketing manager Jodi Brennan. “Within our new design center, they can view our model home, see everything in person and create their own space.”

Brennan says she is seeing many types of homebuyers come into their neighborhoods, including everyone from young families just starting out to empty nesters who still desire a big house where their families can gather.

With that in mind, one of Infinity’s newer offerings, a low-maintenance section at Laurel Pointe, has been a hit.

“[It’s] for those who want to downsize, but are not ready for an apartment or a townhouse,” says Brennan. “They still have the larger single-family home, one-level living and the maintenance is taken care of.”

The Scottsdale is the smallest of these models at 2,300 square feet, plus the option to build out the lower level. It features three to four bedrooms, a first-floor primary suite and 2½ to 4½ bathrooms depending on the chosen interior floor plan.

Pricing starts in the low $700,000s.

There are other models to tour in the Infinity world. Brennan praised in-house design consultant Jill Pearsall for creating a comfortable family feeling in each one. And like many of the buyers, Brennan already knows her favorite space in the new models.

“Make sure you check out the owner’s suite and the bathroom; the sitting area is amazing,” she says. “And the closet? You never want to leave.”
